If you touch me, you’ll understand what happiness is
Carried aloft by a weather balloon, a small cooling chamber rises up into the sky above Mount Hollywood. Upon reaching optimal temperature and humidity, a single snow crystal is growing within the chamber and is ultimately released, falling to earth under the sun over Los Angeles. The flight was documented by two high resolution digital film cameras.

== asche / == ashes
A low current flows through the wire of a broken bulb, slightly heating it up. As people move through the space, the air surrounding them also moves.
Cold air decreases the electric resistance of the wire and so also the voltage. A circuit senses the change of environment and actuates a fan.
Amidst ashes, a couple of these units cover the space. So the dialogue between those present and those who pass by shapes a moving landscape.

Tuchfühler / touching silk
A silk cloth hangs from the ceiling of the room all the way to the floor. As people move through the space the air surrounding them also moves, in turn causing the cloth to move.
Behind the cloth is a group of electromechanical units. Each unit has a motor which moves a thin carbon fibre rod. First the rod gently approaches the cloth and in doing so, slides through two steel tubes which are electrically isolated from one another. If the rod comes into contact with the cloth, it will slightly bend. By bending, the rod connects the two steel tubes and thus completes an internal signal circuit. This causes the rod to move back away from the cloth for a moment.
The silk cloth is also transformed by the touch of the rod. The retreat of the cloth stimulates the surrounding units to approach it again, and thus transforming it further. So the attempt to determine the position of the cloth in space leads to a perpetual interplay of the observers.

Marcel
A parallelogram windscreen wiper in constant motion, mounted on a tripod. The permanent motion of the kinetic sculpture has an effect on the perception of space. The title of the work references the celebrated mime artist Marcel Marceau whose creative practice was similarly concerned with a sense of space and energy.
